From August 22 to September 11 2022, together with our project partners, the Chair of Computing in Engineering and the Worldfactory, we will inform about the possibilities that Artificial Intelligence (AI) means for civil engineering in the TransferLab on the topic “Artificial Intelligence in Civil Engineering”.

At the Ruhr University Bochum’s (RUB) Blue Square Erlebnisraum, scientists will be showing live demonstrators on the topics of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to provide information about current research and to engage in conversation with interested parties.

What is already possible today?

On site, the scientists and with the help of the demonstrators give a demonstrative insight into BIM and the use of AI in the construction industry. Using real-world examples such as the detection of fire protection systems, damage or text in plans, they will show how AI can be used to recognize elements in images and explain the added value this offers. There will also be a demonstrator on the topic of “Digital Building”, which will provide an insight into digital building modeling.

Events in the TransferLab

On August 25, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., we invite all interested parties to attend the opening event to try out the demonstrators and learn more about the exciting potential of AI for construction.

In addition to the demonstrations, there will be a poster exhibition and various events, such as the “Meet the Scientist” afternoons, where the developers of the demonstrators will be available to answer questions.

The goal of the TransferLab is to inform interested citizens, to stay in dialog with them and to get them excited about the innovative research topics. With the TransferLab, we bring you closer to the current research results and the advantages of digital planning, building and operation.
